Tuesday Update:
The 10 AM update places the tropical storm (winds 45 MPH) further north and slightly northeast of it earlier position. It has speeded up to 10 mph. Based on current conditions Helene will become a major hurricane sometime Thursday afternoon and make landfall ( as of now) to the east of Tallahassee during the evening Thursday. Projections show it in northern Georgia by Friday evening.
If the track maintains its current course there should be minimal or no impact on Pensacola and we can get underway for the reunion on Saturday. I am continuing conversations with the hotel, the transportation provider and the venues. I'll keep you posted.

The only impact I see at this point is for those of us driving through the remnants of this storm, heading south through Illinoios, Indiana, etc. on Saturday.

Good morning,
I am closely monitoring the weather developments in the southern Caribbean Sea through the National Hurricane Center (www.nhc.gov) which is the best site for hurricane predictions. At this time, I have also talked to the hotel and the transportation provider regarding the potential storm.
The drop-dead date for cancellation will be Thursday evening. We have a Force Majeure clause in our contract that allows cancellation with no penalties for this type of weather event. I don't want to place anyone in a dangerous position (having been through both a derecho and a major hurricane this year myself) or have folks on the road only to find themselves in harm's way. Please post to all social media and our website. I have attached a current attendee list below.
I will keep everyone advised as events develop further.

Here is the latest on the 2024 Pensacola Florida Reunion.
The following is from our reunion coordinator Gary White.
The hotel agreement has been executed for Sunday 9-29 through Wednesday 10-2-24 at the Holiday Inn Pensacola, University. They will put up the web log-in in late January. Per night rate is $129 + 12.5% hotel/motel tax for a $145.12 per night. Breakfast is included. More as I get things finalized for the venues.
